Following David Cook’s retirement announcement, we are delighted to announce our successors, Sian and Brett Smith, owners of Accounting practice BAS Associates, established in 2001 and based locally in Wingrave. Sian and Brett share our professional outlook and work ethos, with a focus on developing personal relationships with clients and ensuring that the best value advice is always offered and delivered.

For our clients, The Cook Partnership is very much business as usual from our Tring office; Pam’s role remains unchanged overseeing all taxation services and financial accounts production and our brilliant staff all remain.

This new partnership brings our clients additional services that will complement our current offerings. Alongside accountancy, we will now also offer in-house business coaching, consultancy, estate planning (Wills & LPAs), and access to a free advice line for employment and Health & Safety queries.

    Brett has stepped into the role previously held by David Cook, taking responsibility for advising a diverse portfolio of clients across The Cook Partnership. A qualified taxation technician and chartered certified accountant with a degree in Applied Accounting, Brett has worked with hundreds of clients on everything from tax queries to business planning.

    He brings with him a strong track record from BAS Associates Ltd, along with a calm, client-first approach. His wide exposure to real-world business challenges enables him to provide clear, practical guidance – identifying accounting or taxation issues early and recommending improvements to support your financial health.

    Sian is the Managing Director of The Cook Partnership and plays a hands-on role in shaping the future of the business following its acquisition by BAS Associates Ltd. With a degree in Business and Marketing and a professional accreditation as a business coach, she brings over 15 years of experience advising start-ups, family-run businesses, and established businesses on how to grow with confidence.

    Sian combines strategic thinking with a down-to-earth, practical approach – helping clients identify opportunities, improve performance, and feel more in control of their business journey. As Managing Director of the wider BAS Group of companies, she also connects clients with trusted expertise in finance, operations, legacy and growth planning.

  • ACA, Client Relationship Director

    Pam oversees our clients’ year-end process, ensuring they are fully compliant with their legal and reporting requirements. Also responsible for the tax affairs of both personal and corporate clients, Pam strives to optimise tax efficiencies.

    Qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1993, Pam went on to specialise in Corporate Taxation, passing the Chartered Institute of Taxation examination and is a member of the ICAEW. She spent 13 years working in practice as an Auditor and then Tax Adviser, including six years with one of the ‘Big Four’, KPMG.

    Original founding Partner, David Cook, is responsible for advising a diverse portfolio of businesses, and assessing their financial health. His wide exposure to business challenges enables him to provide counsel to clients with potential accounting and taxation issues, and propose improvements.

    David established The Cook Partnership in 1999, and has been a Chartered Accountant and member of the ICAEW since 1993. Prior to setting up his own practice, he worked for five years in industry, gaining experience as a Financial Controller for a large international firm based in London.
