Catering for success.

Following a recommendation in 2018, business partners Simon Houston & Dave Hawkes approached us with their plans for a new and innovative corporate business to ‘shake up their industry’. We reviewed their plan and after advising on structure, we incorporated the company and registered it for Corporation Tax & VAT. We set-up payroll and established their company accounts on Xero software, handling their accounting function. Despite the pandemic, Houston & Hawkes has seen enormous growth, expanding to over 130 staff across 20 sites, and an annual turnover of £5m+. 

Providing full FD support, David has worked closely with senior management to develop Accounting & Reporting systems to provide timely and relevant information. Together with expert counsel, visibility of accurate information is invaluable to decision-making, navigating potential issues and aiding growth. As they continue to shake up the world of corporate catering, our in-house expertise has allowed us to expand with them, supporting the ever-increasing complexities and scale of their business.

Greenfleets are a well-established vehicle leasing business and for a number of years were operating with limited management information. Initially, we were appointed to undertake the year-end process of preparing financial statements and company tax returns. Whilst useful to an extent, it was insufficient to make prompt and necessary business decisions.

After our recommendation, we migrated the company accounts smoothly on to accounting software Xero, putting us in a position to easily provide quarterly management figures. This enables regular, accurate, and timely reports to be prepared, giving Greenfleets complete visibility of their business’ finances. They can track and compare their budgets, sales, and costs at a touch of a button – and make better business decisions off the back of it.

The bigger picture.

Whistlebrook are leaders in insight, delivering innovative software solutions to provide big picture insight for complex regulatory and business for the financial services sector. We were approached by their Financial Director in 2016 to assist their in-house experience accounts team to help their year-end process. Each year since, we have been supplied with a comprehensive accounts file compiled of working papers and supporting schedules. And from this we prepare both the formal Statutory Financial Statements and Corporation Tax return, ensuring that the company meets all their reporting and tax obligations.

As well as assisting with Companies House and HMRC reporting, we have provided ad-hoc accounting, the submission of a R&D Tax credit claim and optimised group relief claims.
